SAVAGE LANDS is taking on the scale it deserves!
Two years after its founding by Dirk Verbeuren (Megadeth) and Sylvain Demercastel, Savage Lands is shifting into high gear. The NGO, which previously operated primarily in Costa Rica, is establishing Savage Lands France to expand its scope of action within Europe.
Meeting Ben Barbeau and Eric Perrin at Hellfest provided both inspiration and concrete resources for this movement of metalheads—a group that is rapidly becoming the benchmark for forest and wildlife conservation within the metal community...

Music in the service of biodiversity: that is the stance taken by Savage Lands, which is calling upon the metal community to create the "Army of Trees."
A main-stage concert on Friday, June 28, will see musicians championing a cause. Rather than delivering a lecture on the urgency of the situation, Savage Lands is using its own tools to put on a show where the stars are the forest and the metal community—a community that can make headlines by leading the way and making things happen.
Make no mistake: Savage Lands is no ordinary band; it will only perform live when doing so benefits the NGO and the tangible cause it champions.
Several VIP guests will join them on stage to support this initiative...
Dirk and Sylvain—joined by Poun and Etienne from BBA, Flo from Loco Muerte, Kai from Heilung, as well as Andreas Kisser and Chloe Trujillo—gathered in a Los Angeles studio to record an album, with 100% of the royalties going to the NGO.
Season of Mist signed the NGO itself—rather than a band—marking a first for a record label...
Joining forces to be stronger! That can be difficult in a competitive world, but Savage Lands has succeeded in bringing together two recognized NGOs in Costa Rica to form an alliance based on a shared manifesto and tackle the urgent situation at hand... Stay tuned!
Heilung has pledged to donate $1 for every ticket sold on their US tour, Sakis from Rotting Christ is joining the "Army of Trees," Alissa from Arch Enemy will feature on a track, and the Trujillo family paid a surprise visit to Costa Rica, where they planted their first trees with the NGO... And that’s just the beginning!
This year, we rolled up our sleeves to help the NGO diversify its revenue streams and fund its various projects. Here are the four co-branded Hyraw products we developed in partnership with Savage Lands to cater to every level of audience engagement. Now, it’s up to you to get behind the Savage Lands cause!
Watch the music video for "Black Rock Heart"—a prescient track and the second hard rock single from Savage Lands, a non-profit musical organization fighting deforestation in Costa Rica. 100% of the song royalties will help fund nature sanctuaries, create green zones, and support other land preservation projects in Costa Rica.
Thanks to advances received for the album and donations raised during last year’s raffle and Hellfest, Dirk and Sylvain managed to secure an initial site. They did so with the help of landowners who agreed to dedicate 90% of their property to a protected forest zone by establishing an ecological easement. This marks the beginning of a long series of METAL FORESTS!
